Hi everyone,

I'd been looking for a meetup group that would cater to either single parents or people who've recently become single, and couldn't find either, so I decided to become the organizer for a group that combines both. My interest in the latter is to help ease into single life with a casual approach to meeting new people, through something other than the traditional singles scene, and in the hope of making some good friends. Anyone who fits into either or both categories in the title is welcome to join the group -- it's not necessary to be a single parent AND be newly single.

We usually meet several times a month, but the one pretty consistent time is on the first Friday of each month in the evening. These monthly meetups have tended to be held at casual eating/drinking places, where it's okay to bring kids, without specifically catering to kids. The plan is to rotate around various areas in San Diego for monthly meetups, or to choose central locations that everyone can get to easily. We also post many additional events based on indications in polls as to desired activities -- hiking, dancing, adult dinners, etc. Some of our assistant organizers specifically focus on child-friendly activities, and others post mostly adult events, sometimes linking with other meetup groups with similar interests.

Please vote in the polls; check the message board from time to time for additional information and/or discussions; offer suggestions for specific events/activities, and please let others know about us.
